Robert T. Thompson, Jr.

Robert Thompson Jr., is Managing Partner of Thompson Law Group, LLC.  He was born in Atlanta, Georgia and admitted to bar, 1975, Georgia; 1976, South Carolina; 1980, District of Columbia; 1984, New York; U.S. Court of Appeals, Second, Fourth, Fifth, Eighth, Ninth and Eleventh Circuits and U.S. Supreme Court.  Robert Thompson, Jr. comes from a long lineage of legal expertise and excellence.  His father, Robert Thomas Thompson, Sr. was an iconic labor attorney.  His legend and expertise not only lives in his son, but in the Thompson Law Group, LLC.

Robert Thompson Jr. has over 36 years of extensive experience and is author of, “Substance Abuse and Employee Rehabilitation”.   Mr. Thompson wrote this book as a guide to handling substance abuse issues and developing programs in the workforce.  The guide quickly gained popularity and was adopted across several industries.  He is a valued member of the Allied Georgia Employers’ Network on Drug Abuse (AGENDA), 1990-1993; South Carolina Commission on Alcohol and Drug Abuse, 1992-1993; Board of Directors, Georgia Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA), 1992-2002; United States: President’s Commission on Model State Drug Laws, 1992-1993; Vice-Chairman, National Alliance on Model State Drug Laws, and President, Metropolitan Atlanta Council on Alcohol and Drugs (MACAD).  Thompson is also an Adjunct Professor of Law at the Emory University of Law, as well as a council member of Emory Law School.  He has been recognized by LexisNexis’s AV Peer Review Rating of Preeminent Lawyers for over 20 consecutive years.

Seth N. Katz

Senior Associate

Seth N. Katz is an associate in the firm’s business litigation practice, with a focus on labor and employment law. He advises clients on employee discipline, hiring and firing, non-compete and non-solicitation agreements, trade secrets, business contracts, litigation avoidance, policy review and management training. His experience also includes the representation of clients in a variety of disputes related to contracts, real estate and torts.

Mr. Katz is a member of the State Bar of Georgia. He is a member of both the Business Law and Employment Law Sections of the Georgia State Bar, and he served as Chairman of the Young Lawyers Division Business Law Section of the State Bar of Georgia from 2006-2010.

In 2006, Mr. Katz earned a Juris Doctor from Emory University School of Law. While in law school, he served as an intern for the National Labor Relations Board. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics in 1998 from the University of Georgia.

H. Kirk Henson

Kirk assists the firm in all Foreclosure Defense cases, Litigation, and Employment Law matters.  Kirk also has an abundance of experience in Insurance Operations Defense and managed several regional litigation claims dealing specifically with the Amoco Oil Company.  In 2006 Kirk Henson worked alongside the Attorney General in Judicial Reviews and Administrative decisions.  He was also tasked with responding to the public on behalf of the Georgia Commissioner to general questions regarding labor and Employment Law.

David Kanz
Paralegal and Research Analyst

David currently assists the Thompson Law Group in case management, administration and legal research in many areas with particular emphasis in the foreclosure prevention and wrongful foreclosure cases the firm handles, thus directly dealing daily with the home foreclosure crisis facing millions of Americans today. His background includes experience in legal research, writing, publishing, Computer IT and Management of Information Systems, radio and television broadcasting involving editing and production of shows and features, Business Marketing, Branding, Consulting, and Project Management in the residential development and building industry, teaching at the college level, co-founded and administrated an adult evening college and obtained certification and accreditation for the school. David has been involved in many consumer advocacy efforts through the years including becoming the Chairman in 2007 of the Grady County Housing Task Force in Grady County, Georgia, spear heading the County’s efforts to address the issue of the lack of affordable housing available to low and middle income residents and potential homeowners. David is currently finishing a degree in Management of Information Systems with plans to attend law school in the very near future.

 


Julie Mignone
Marketing Coordinator

Julie is from San Diego California, but has lived in Atlanta the majority of her life.  She earned her Bachelors of Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing from Georgia State University.  In 2010 Julie designed, implemented, and executed a Marketing proposal for the Alliance Theater.  Julie currently manages all online content, implements and analyzes all marketing measures effectiveness, coordinates communications vehicles, manages the development, distribution, and maintenance of both traditional and nontraditional advertising.  She is a member of both the National Society of Leadership and Success and the Public Relations Society of America.  Julie enjoys painting and some of her work was displayed in 2003’s The Great Frame Up art show.

 


Kayla Calloway
Business Operations Manager

An Atlanta native, Kayla Calloway oversees all billing and accounting aspects for the firm.  Kayla manages all logistical business aspects in the office including: Managing accounts payable and receivable processes, increasing the effectiveness and efficiency of Support Services (HR, IT and Finance), through improvements to each function as well as coordination and communication between support and business functions and serves as the  primary liaison between legal counsel and Managing Partners.  She also provides legal aid to attorneys by assisting in casework research when necessary.  Kayla received her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore with a concentration in English Literature.   She wrote for the University’s newspaper, The Hawk’s Messenger, and served as the class President.  Kayla has a strong background in communications and a great interest in writing.  She is currently writing a book for college students on how to obtain the right internships.
